ABOUT US Frank Sterle's Slovenian Country House is a wonderful ethnic restaurant located in Cleveland, Ohio (close to downtown Cleveland) near Lake Erie. It boasts a wide range of Slovenian dishes as well as other modern dishes. A specialty of the restaurant is the German Wienerschnitzel and extremely good salads. It is an old, established and consistent restaurant which has been around for 42 years and under new management since 1988. This is a long-term location. Our menu has been the same for the last 25 years. If you like authentic, home-cooked food with a terrific Alpine-style atmosphere, then this is the place for you. From the moment you walk in, you will be captivated by the aromatic smells of good old-fashioned Slovenian cooking and on Friday and Saturday evenings cheerful, uplifting music, played by well-known accordionists and their bands. Our restaurant features a large dining area and a separated banquet room for parties or or special events. We also feature some of the best of Cleveland's musicians/accordionists who play on Friday and Saturday nights and a dance floor for those who like to dance the polkas and waltzes. A great way to stay young at heart. You are sure to enjoy this rich, ethnic music. If you haven't danced in awhile, this might be a great opportunity to get back on the floor! Dancers at all levels fill the floor. Frank Sterle's Slovenian Country House offers a place of respite for the weary and a place of excitement and uplifting for those seeking good food and music. After a soul-warming meal, get out on the dance floor and shed all your earthly cares. So, we invite you to kick off your shoes and view our menus and learn more about us through this website. We heartily welcome you as well as your families and friends. It is a great place to have a really fun and unique party. We have featured many birthday, celebration, and wedding parties and look forward to serving you. We look forward to your visit and send you our best regards. Mike and Margot
REVIEWS "Even though it's located on Cleveland's East 55th Street, Frank Sterle's Slovenian Country House serves up its fare in a classic mountain lodge that makes guests feel as if they are dining in the Alps. Painted wall murals of the countryside, servers dressed in Eastern European clothing and the traditional Slovenian music played on Friday and Saturday nights make this country house well worth a visit. Hearty dinner choices include classics such as Wienerschnitzel or roast pork, and the generous portions can be eaten family-style with sauerkraut and strudel. Slovenian-style liver Jeterca with onions is also highly recommended. The lunch menu features daily specials from veal goulash to chicken paprikash, and also offers family-style dining and ample meeting facilities." Review By: NorthernOhioLive "Meat loaf, Wienerschnitzel, from-scratch graview, and a hint of grandma's tender loving care are staples at this Central European restaurant on the near east side." www.fodors.com "The excellent food is all made from scratch. Who else in Cleveland can make that claim? This is not artsy food here; it is the food that your great grandparents made everyday. Forget about going anywhere else." cleveland.citysearch.com
